TouchStar is an emerging venture in haptic technology, preparing for launch. Our core technology is built upon years of haptic research developed at the Konyo Laboratory, Graduate School of Information Sciences, Tohoku University.
Our mission is to create a world where people can archive and share haptic experiences, offering not only tactile sensations but a fully immersive, embodied experience that conveys a sense of presence, skillful movement, and more.

From Smartphone Vibrations
to Real Touch.

Our core technology breaks through the limits of conventional vibration feedback, enabling a new generation of tactile experiences on everyday smartphones—no extra hardware required. Powered by a unique algorithm developed at Tohoku University, it faithfully reproduces a wide range of tactile sensations, from low to high frequencies, that were previously difficult to achieve. What’s more, vibration signals can be automatically generated from audio, allowing anyone to create immersive haptic content without specialized knowledge. With widespread hardware distribution and automated signal generation, we are pioneering a new medium where realistic haptic experiences can be shared by all. This technology is protected by patents worldwide, and the underlying research has received international recognition, including awards at leading haptics conferences. At CEATEC 2025, we will unveil this innovation for the first time—delivering tactile experiences synchronized with live performances and powerful martial arts footage, matched to each user’s location. By combining smartphones with digital signage, we showcase the potential of next-generation experiential content.

The project is led by Professor Masashi Konyo, who has pursued haptics research for over 25 years, and Kenta Ishida, who served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) at Tohoku University, driving commercialization efforts.
